we're back, and it's monday

I don't know if I'll get around to getting through any pictures of our trip today.
These kids. Oh my.
I'm thinking we've all spent a little too much "family time" together surrounding our vacation. They just cannot leave each other alone... and not in a good way.
No matter how much distraction, separation, fun stuff, mommy engagement, etc, etc, etc I give them, it is just one of those days. I've been ready for naptime since about 8 am.

And of course I'm just so anxious to go through all the pictures from the trip, not to mention catching up on blogs and email, oh and unpacking and laundry laundry laundry. But not if these kids have anything to do with it.

******
We made it to lunch time all in one piece. I've been seeing a lot of this Muffin Tin Monday stuff going on lately and since neither of my kids have been eating much of anything lately I decided to try it out on our table (and it's a complete coincidence today happens to be a Monday!!).
I'm always up for switching things up as the novelty of things sometimes helps to get them to eat more. Things like having a blanket picnic in the living room, eating a meal with only toothpicks (or toothsticks as SJ calls them), letting the kids cook or making crazy creations with our food. You never know what works with these kids. So I put piles of some of their favorite munchy lunchy things into my big muffin tin. Sawyer's been really into shapes lately, so I even grouped them into shapes to point out to him... squares, "ovals", and circles.
They thought it was pretty cool at first. They stopped picking on each other long enough to entertain each other with some toothpicks and food for a minute. Or two. (and yes, Sawyer's still in his pajamas)
But only a few minutes max. Then they both reported they were done.
Here's the after shot:Yeah, not much difference from the before, huh.
And sadly this is more than Sawyer has eaten any day this past week. I just don't know what to do with that kid.

Okay. Lunchtime over means naptime is upon us.
I think we all need this break.

Where did you get your 6 muffin - muffin tin? I looked at Walmart, but couldn't find one.

Lucy has not been a great eater recently, so I thought I might try muffin tin Monday, too.

Love this innovative idea! I will try it for snack today so I can get it in on Monday still. Glad you guys had a good vacation.

So funny to see this on your blog... I just came across the Muffin Tin lunches on Flipflops and Applesauce blog and when I was at Walmart I was looking for a muffin tin (but then stupidly realized I had two 6-muffin tins and a 12-muffin tin at home)
