punks

I'm spending my day with a couple of little punks.
How did they get so punky??

Sawyer spent the morning running around half naked (he had his pajama bottoms on, but he's taken to pulling his shirts off all the time) with a box of Nilla Wafers, burping on purpose, cracking himself up, wreaking havoc on the whole house.

Savannah got a bloody nose from Sawyer's heel in her face, and that was after she'd spent the morning fussing over the hand that her daddy took a sliver out of last night, as well as a three day old paper cut on the other one.

He's crabby, she's bossy. He's indecisive, but demanding; she's fed up with her two year old brother, but calling him honey and bud and secretly loving him being her shadow.

It's Monday.

How about some pictures of these punks of mine? It seems like it's been awhile...

We spent the day out in the sun yesterday. It was 78* and it was so nice to get out! (Don't get too jealous... we're expecting 6 inches of snow tonight and tomorrow)
We took the kids down to the elementary school for a bit; watched some kite flying, some scrimmage soccer, and ran around on the playground. It was sooo windy out. A couple of gusts actually knocked Sawyer over while running around.
Savannah would sit up at the top of the highest slide and hold her arms out to go down... she told me the wind made if feel like she was really flying.
Something about this picture reminds me of her baby-er years... maybe the position of her arms is just reminiscent of the balance act of toddlerhood, but she seems so small and thrilled about the wind in her face...

And then I saw this picture and it makes me ache for that baby...

she seems to have such a grown up look about her in this one. Long and lean and focused...

and Sawyer on the big swings...

I went out with every intention of snapping a whole bunch of great shots of the kids. But it was one of those peek-a-boo sunny days and I didn't have the patience to worry about the camera settings and the there one minute, gone the next late afternoon sunshine. I was too busy enjoying my kids out in the beautiful weather. So they're not perfect, but they're all I got.

Oh, here also are a couple that Ryan snapped real quick of me and Sawyer swinging together. Ryan normally switches the camera over to auto mode when he takes pics, but for some reason didn't this time resulting in these being totally blown out. Even though I have no idea what I'm doing in Photoshop, I tried to fix them up a bit because there's just something about these that I love...
I love my punks.

Savannahs' hair is getting long again. And in a lot of photos she does look years older. I think the one on top of the slide reminds me of beach pictures with you when she was about 2. The hair and the profile. I love it.Thanks for the pics. I would just as soon have this Monday over with and move on. Rainy and windy here ,and I have a headache.:( oxoxo Mom/grammag

So cute those little punks! I received my book that you sent me today! Yeah! I'm excited to read it and thought it was neat to see that it is set in South Carolina. John and I are heading there in a few weeks for a friend's wedding that I'm in, it'll be our first time there, and first time away from the kids together. I think the book will make a good long plane ride read! Thanks so much Heather!

this post brings tears to my eyes, even though I've never met your kids. What a great reflection on childhood. Punks, sweet, growing up too fast -- the life of a child! :)
