TFT: hiccup!

Here's a simple thought to think about this Thursday...
Do you have a sure-fire cure for the hiccups?

Ryan had the hiccups last night after his soccer game and they wouldn't go away. He won't ever follow my advice (he claims since he tried it one time before and it didn't work, so it's a crock) on what works in a heartbeat for both me and Savannah. When I get the hiccups, I just grab a spoon and take a dip in the peanut butter jar. Yep, a spoon-full of peanut butter and my hiccups are gone. Every time.
Since Ryan won't ever do the peanut butter, I figured I'd get an arsenal ready for the next time he starts in on the hiccups. What do you do for hiccups? Any weird cures you've heard of and always wondered if they work??
Lay 'em on me...

Hey heather, I know some people who puff their cheeks and spin in a circle while hopping on one foot. But I don't go that far. I get a drink of water and go upside down before I swallow it. That usually works.

i hold my breath while trying to swallow 7 times. usually i can't do more than 3 or 4 times... it's hard. but it seems to work pretty well. i'll have to try the peanut butter, that sounds like much more fun. :)

My mom used to have us do a spoonful of maple syrup or two. She would have us swallow it really slowly. I sometimes do the drinking water upside down thing though and it has worked too. I loathe the hiccups!

I've gotten rid of them by drinking from a cup of water upside down. But, I think there have been a few times that didn't work. I dunno.

there are many ways I have tried the hardest to do- but works every time is to plug your ears and your nose at the same time(a thumb on each ear and pinkies pinching your nose) and try and swallow 3 times. Try and do it without the hicups and it's hard-- but cures them every time!

I've tried so many of these tricks! And I think I read somewhere that if you try new things like these that they do work often because it's gotten your focus off of the hiccups and onto the "method" you're using. Like the old one where you ask the person hiccuping when the last time he saw a white horse was. Or if you tell someone with the hiccups that you'll give them $1000 if they hiccup again and then they can't.
But then it's like once you've done it once, it doesn't work the next time. The peanut butter is the only thing that works every time for me.
I'm curious to see if any of these work next time.
Any others?

when you have the hiccups - have someone tell you to hiccup. if you have to then you can't. okay it sounds dorky but it has worked. it is all about getting your mind off the hiccups. i think i might go for the spoonful of peanut butter next time. that sounds yummie!
