suggestions

I need a few ideas as my brainstorming brain seems to have taken an extra long turkey day vacation....

Ryan has a potluck at work tomorrow (he just informed me tonight) and needs to take something in. He mentioned the crock pot, but no further ideas than that. What can I he throw in the crock pot early tomorrow AM to cook all day for a potluck?

Also we're having our neighborhood holiday progressive dinner this Friday evening. We are partnering with our backyard neighbors to be the first stop in the progression... between the two of us we're on for appetizers and drinks. For 15 adults and 19 kids.
I'm trying to come up with two appetizerish things and maybe something to drink.
An adult punchbowl and a kid punchbowl? Mulled wine??
And appetizers... I was thinking these (which are oh oh oh so good but I'm not too sure about making so many and are they good if they're not hot?) or Spinach pinwheels (which are like these but with fresh spinach and ham and an herbed cheese spread instead of nacho ingredients). Otherwise I'm just drawing a blank on what to do. A veggie tray? Fruit kebobs?? My neighbor is doing some sort of cheeseball or cheese dip or something... and I can't remember what else.
Help!

on the potluck tomorrow - i am no help. sorry!

for your progressive dinner i can add a few things. first, those bacon things are good even when they are cold (plus you can always pop them in the oven for five or so minutes to warm them up if you want). however, making a ton of them could get expensive. the pinwheels sound pretty cost effective and delish! a veggie tray would be less work. i think they are all good ideas - i don't think you can go wrong. okay, i'm not sure i even helped here! sorry!

for drinks - you could do a punch and some mulled wine for options? wow, i have to stop, i'm not helping! you have good ideas - just go with them. sound like a fun evening.

For the potluck... I've made meatballs in a crockpot before for a potluck and they were a hit. I bought a box of them at Costco, and let them cook for the day. I've seen casseroles as well, rice... noodles...

For your dinner... I've made cocktail sausages before... wrap mini ''wieners'' with back, pour brown sugar all over it and bake in the oven. They are GREAT, easy and cheap to make. You could make tomato-mozzarella skewers... wrap a tiny piece of basil around the mozzarella... and serve with a balsamic vinegar reduction as a dip. Or, a veggie tray would be good too, you could serve a few dips with them. :)

I have a recipe for a punch:

Pineapple Citrus Punch
Ingredients:
2 cups lemonade
2 cups orange juice
3 cups pineapple juice
2 cups gingerale
1 to 1 1/2 cups vodka
pineapple spears for garnish
fresh cranberries for garnish
ice cubes

Directions:

1. Combine the first 5 ingredients and keep chilled until ready to serve.

2. Serve over ice cubes. Garnish with pineapple spears and cranberries.

And, here's another drink:

Grapefruit Raspberry Sparkler

• Preparation Time: 10 minutes
• Makes: 4 (1 1/4 cup) servings

1 cup (250 mL) fresh raspberries or unsweetened frozen raspberries, thawed

1 1/4 cups (300 mL) grapefruit juice

3 tbsp (45 mL) SPLENDA® No Calorie Sweetener, Granulated or 5 SPLENDA® No Calorie Sweetener, Packets

1 1/3 cups (325 mL) diet lemon-lime soda

Process raspberries, grapefruit juice, and SPLENDA® Granulated or SPLENDA® Packets in a blender until smooth. Press mixture through a sieve into a pitcher; discard solids.

Fill four tall glasses with ice and pour about 1/2 cup (125 mL) of the raspberry mixture into each one. Add 1/3 cup (75 mL) of the soda to each glass. Serve immediately.

--------------------------

Of course, both could be altered to make an adult version out of it!

Hope it helps! :)

Sorry that I had nothing to suggest to you, however I wanted to say thanks for sharing the link to the pinwheels! I made those for a get together we went to on Sat night and they were a big hit! Very easy too!
So, Thanks :)
