I'm still alive... but at soccer camp and VBS

I'm not sure how much time I have here... our internet's been in and out all day. I'm trying to just jot down a couple of quick things and a pic or two before I lose my connection again. I have a lot of catching up to do on this here blog o' mine...

Savannah has soccer camp this week. We all know she's not the most tom-boyish girl in the bunch and could really care less about any sports whatsoever. (Except swimming-- she was thrilled when I told her that could be a sport and I could see the wheels turning in her head... there is a sport I like!) Anyway, out of all the other sports she could dabble in, we figure soccer would be the one she would most likely be interested in. That and the fact that it's Ryan's sport and he would just lurve it if his kids followed in his footsteps. Instead of signing her up for a six or eight week soccer "class", not knowing if she'll even really like it or not, we found a great little soccer "camp" this week that's only four mornings. I think the four days in a row will be good for her and I'm thinking it's a good amount of time to know whether she's really interested in soccer or not.

So far, after the first morning, her opinions of it are in true Savannah style:
The highlights of being involved in a soccer camp? Getting to go shopping for new shoes, plus shorts, shin guards and socks. Seriously, she was very much against going to the camp at all... until she found out about our planned shopping trip just for her. And after getting all her gear she was actually excited about it!
Also, after her first morning; the lowlights of being involved in a soccer camp? "I'm upset that my socks and my jersey got dirty... and some of my stickers came off."
Can you hear me rolling my eyes??
That's our Savannah.

(We struggled a bit in the store while shopping for these shoes
when she of course first spotted the soccer shoes with pink stripes on the shelf. For her, of course, it was love at first sight... for us, we needed the shoes to remain neutral as we want to be able to pass them on to Sawyer in another year or so. So we reached a compromise saying that she could "decorate" her shoes while she wore them... hence the (now mutilated) flower stickers on the Adidas!)

I think she did have a lot of fun. It was super hot today... ninety already this morning. Sawyer and I didn't even stay to watch for the whole two hours; we were miserable out in the sun. But the kids on the field, all armed with their water bottles, looked like they had fun regardless. We'll see what Savannah thinks after a week of this!

So that's what we're up to each morning this week, and also our church is holding their Vacation Bible School every evening. I'm teaching so that'll take up a big chunk of my time each day.
We had a full holiday weekend, but I was also hit with a wicked headache the last two days so now I'm trying to get through pics and get some of our weekend stuff posted here before I get too carried away in our busy week ahead.
Oh! And the Pay it Forward Share the Love winner!! I'll get to that too! Soon, I promise :)
