i may be the oddball

Normally you hear plenty of complaints about how much Daylight Savings sucks, messing with kids' schedules, etc... especially this time of year when you "lose" an hour of sleep and it's dark once again in the morning...
But I am loving Daylight Savings time this year.
I was keeping my fingers crossed that the time change would help with my early riser, but I never dared hope it would be this good *knocking emphatically on every wood surface in my house*.
Where Sawyer was up at around (or before) 6 every morning, he's now sleeping (through his frogs waking up) until 7:45 or 8. Every morning so far. And Savannah's not getting up until after 7o'clock as well. Let me just say our mornings are a whole nother story now. I don't wake up tired and annoyed... we don't have our 'go back to bed' struggles for an hour before we come downstairs... everyone is so much more rested and happy to start our day.
Except for poor Ryan who is still supposed to get up while it's still dark and go to work :(

And I'm loving it in the evenings too. I don't bide my time waiting for the kids' bedtime... it's still light out and somehow that makes it cheerier and easier to pass the hours between when Ryan gets home and when it really is bedtime. Instead of feeling done with our day by the time it's getting dark at 6:30 and thinking "is it too early to put them in the bath yet?", we easily keep ourselves occupied and find ourselves thinking, "wow, it's 7:30 already, we should be getting them to bed!". It's pretty much like our whole day has shifted time and it's working so much better.

I'm sure it helps too that we've had gorgeous warm weather and have spent our evenings mostly outside. We went for a walk after dinner last night and didn't even come in to start bedtime stuff until well after 7 o'clock. Ahh... spring is really here!!

I'm glad the change is working out for you and the morning wake-ups! What a relief, as usually the time change bothers people, its actually helped you out! :)

we've also not had any problems this time! so nice...

but, i do still put the boys to bed early, usually by 7:30. there are some days where they have a bath at 4pm and get into pjs!

Yeah, Morgan is still sleeping now when I get him up - he is annoyed when I have to wake him though and says "But it still DARK out!" At night however, he is a bit confused about having to go to bed when it's still "pretty" out.

Actually, I am with you Heather. I love Daylights Savings time and the extra hour of light at night. I get way more depressed when it ends every fall!

I hate losing the hour the day we switch times, but I do like it being light later. We haven't had any issues with the time change- it barely affected P-man. Well, he is sleeping in a little later, but who knows if thats just a little fluke.
