three days

Our three day weekend is over. Ryan stayed home Friday (and was actually home really early on Thursday) because of the ice and freezing rain we had for a few days and it was sooo nice. We had an excellent weekend, just relaxing, hanging out and basically just doing nothing...

Friday afternoon we went over to our new church to help out with their new building. Oh, it feels so good to say that -our new church! Yep, I think we found ourselves a home. Long story, but we found this church, a newer church (they've been meeting for about a year) that had been renting space on Saturday nights from another church nearby. We went and visited and although it's a smaller group still (probably about 60-70 people) we were quite comfortable there and felt right at home. Everyone was genuinely welcoming and wanting to get to know us. The pastor and his family, as well as one other couple we met with a toddler, actually live in our same subdivision. Then it turns out the church just bought a property and is remodeling/moving into this new church building... half a mile away from us. You can pretty much see it from the end of our street. How cool is that? Their first services there are going to be this coming weekend, so they've all been busy building, cleaning, painting and moving and we went over to help them out this past Friday. They were happy to see us (and the cookies I brought!) and it was a fun way to get to know more people! We're excited to spend some time with this church and see if this is where the Lord's been leading us all this time.
I know this may not be of super interest to many of you, but it's a big thing for us. We have so been missing that closeness and belonging, the support and encouragement, the fellowship and growth that being a real part of a church family brings. It's been a long, long time...

Anyway, Friday night Savannah had Norah spend the night and Ryan and I watched this. I liked it.

Saturday night Ryan went to a friend's house for some kind of homemade brew tasting thing. A bunch of guys he works with like to brew their own beers and have a little get together every once in awhile. Ryan also spent the weekend whining that he was the only one there without his own brew kit... he found no sympathy here on that one.

Sunday we actually made ourselves leave the house and made a Costco run, picked up an Easter dress for Savannah, hung out at the mall a bit to let the kids play, and then had a yummy dinner at Max & Erma's complete with their ice cream sundae bar for dessert. Mmmm!

Other than that, we pretty much spent our three day weekend like this:

Yes, we are completely addicted.
We played every night after the kids went to bed, every day during the kids' whole naptime sometimes starting before they were actually down and on Saturday afternoon, we actually played through after they woke up until we had to get up and make dinner. It's pretty sad really. But fun! But sad. My wrist is sore.
You can play too! Come on... you know you want to... everybody's doing it...

I am so pumped for you guys about the new church!!! I am very much NOT looking forward to church shopping when we move. I'm sure it will take a while to get into the swing of things with 3 kids under 3. I can't really see myself sticking my kids in random church nurseries all over town. Maybe we will have to scout them out just David or myself first. Hmm...this is an aspect of the move I hadn't thought about in detail.

I'm so happy to hear you found a home church. And it is so close! Sounds perfect. I know we may not talk on the phone before, but I'll see you this summer and look forward to hearing more about the "story" of how you chose it, etc. I just posted some of our RW women's retreat that was this past weekend. Take care!

Is that card game "Demon" or "O, Hell?" My mom and I play it sometimes and she woops my behind. Fun though! So glad you guys found a new church. We just found a new one back in December and are so happy with it. It is a necessity.

We know it as Nertz...
apparently it can also be known as Nerts, Nerf, Gluck, Peanuts, Pounce, Solitaire Frenzy, Stop, Squeal, Squeak, Squid, Speed, Squinch, Racing Demon, Race Horse Rummy, Lucky Thirty, Grouch and Hallelujah

Hallelujah... Haha! That's a good one. That IS how you feel at the end of a round and you're the one out first!!
