saturday night fever

not so entertaining.

We had our game night last night. Mike and Kasey came out, Kevin and Heather came over, and Wendy joined us too! So nice to see her as we haven't had a chance to catch up since we moved here! We had our fill of apples and then we played a few rounds of Loaded Questions. And ate lots of chocolate and candy, topped of with a batch of Ryan's famous milkshakes. It was a good night!

Except.
Yesterday morning, while Savannah and I were out running errands, I noticed her voice was scratchy and her eyes looked tired and were getting that "sick" look. By the afternoon (after boycotting a nap!) she felt a little warm, and she sounded like she was definitely losing her voice, but she still acted pretty normally. To try and head off any real pending illness, (and also to get the kids in bed and asleep before our guests arrived) we had an early bedtime of 6:30. Savannah was out in no time.
Then a round of Apples to Apples was interrupted about 10 o'clock by a strangled sounding cry for Mommy at the top of the stairs. I went up to find Savannah bleary eyed and burning up. After a cool cup of water and a fresh dose of Tylenol, she was back in bed. Only to be crying again for Daddy not much more than an hour later. More cool juice and some snuggles and I thought we'd be good to go.
When we finally made it up to bed at about 12:30, I went in to check on her and found her tossing and turning and whimpering and wide awake. As wide awake as you can be with a raging fever, that is.
I ended up bringing her to bed with us, I felt so bad for her. So we all tossed and turned until she woke up crying at about 3:30 saying her neck hurt. We all tried rearranging and she decided she wanted to go back to her own bed. So one more dose of drugs, some water and good tucking in and I hoped we'd be good till morning.
Nope. Only until 4am when Sawyer decided that might be a good time to get up for the day. After a couple of pops out of bed, he did lay back down until about 6:30, when I finally let him crawl in bed with us and turn on the tv. We migrated downstairs at 7 to let Ryan sleep a little longer.
Savannah slept until 8, but woke up really hot again, not wanting to do anything but lay around with maybe a snuggle here and there.
And that's how our morning has gone. Her temp is still over 102, and that's with Tylenol. Poor baby. She has no voice to speak of, and when she does try to talk it hurts her (besides coming out sounding like a strangled dolphin). She has those fever eyes and she's spent half the day crying because they hurt and burn and she hates it.
Ryan took Sawyer to the park for a bit, and now Savannah's watching a movie in our bed. I'm going to attempt to get her to eat something and take a bath before I tuck her into her dark cool room to get her a little more of a quality nap time. Hate to see her so sick. It's been a long time since she's been so under the weather.

I'm hoping she at least sleeps so I can catch up on a little too!

Poor Savannah! Its so awful to have your kids be sick... and there's nothing you can really do to make them feel better. I hope she feels better soon.
