shortest book review ever

It's been ranging from sprinkling to pouring for much of the day here today. I have to admit I'm loving it. I heard we got a lot of rain here while we were gone, so I'm sure there are plenty of people aroune who are none too pleased with the weather today, but we who have been high and dry for the past few weeks are soaking up the cooler, somewhat dreary, low-key rainy day.

Thanks everyone for your kind words here yesterday. I appreciate the encouragement and the reality is, it's nice to know we all have days (or weeks) like that. Today's been better. I made it a priority to get out of the house and we spent the morning at The Magic House Children's Museum. We made it back just in time to scarf down some lunch and hit the bedrooms for naptime. I myself, am trying to get this written up fast so I can possibly catch a few z's as well. It's the perfect nap kind of rainy day...

Also the perfect day to curl up with a good book!
I've been really excited to share this last book I read with you all. I read it in about 24 hours, which is a feat for me these days, so you know it was good! I loved it and it was obviously a really quick read (as I find all Nicholas Sparks' books are), so quick in fact that I found myself disappointed at the end that it was over already.

Dear John is the story of John, a military soldier, and Savannah, the love of his life; how they meet, fall in love and try to live happily ever after.
There.
That's pretty much all I have to say about this book.
Really, that's the whole story. Isn't that always Sparks' stories? It's always amazing to me how he manages to take what would seem to be a basic or typical love story and turn it into something so much more, so absorbing, so real. I love the way he sucks you in, makes you love his characters, makes you feel the story. And I love the way he can make a tragic love story still a peaceful, resolved, beautiful one. I always cry. Always. And I bawled at this one.

If you're looking for another good book as you wrap up your summer reading, then you've come to the right spot. It's become a habit around here to pass on the books I read for someone else to have a turn to enjoy it as well. Because good things are meant to be shared and all that.
Here's how it works:
If you're interested in a free, slightly used hardback copy of Dear John by Nicholas Sparks, and if you leave me a comment on this post by next Wednesday, August 6th, and if I draw your name as the winner, I'll send it right to your door... Passing on the good reads!!

p.s. Be sure that I either have your email address, that it comes up in your google/blogger profile, or that I at least have a link to your blog so that I can contact you for your mailing address.

p.p.s. Past Book Giveaways and Winners can be found here.

ETA--- Congrats LeeAnn!! You're the lucky winner this time. Can't wait to hear how you like the book!

Okay, I'm not an avid reader....but, I LOVE Sparks' books. I picked one up one day a few years back when I was subbing in a teacher's room, she had it sitting on her desk and at EVERY break, lunch, recess I had my nose in that book :) After that I went out and bought 4 or 5 of his books and read all and fell in love with them, such great stories & such easy reads.

Maybe I'll be the lucky winner again, if not maybe I'll just have to go and pick that one up....

I love to read! And, since your hubby is coming to our town soon, if I win(!), you won't even have to mail it to me....Yes, enter me in the drawing, but tell Savannah to try to pick my name! :-)

Oooh, I feel the same way about his books....ALWAYS cry like a baby. They just absorb me in a way that no other author does. There are only two of his that I haven't read and Dear John is one of them :).

What is your favorite? Mine is the wedding....I sooo wish they would make a movie version.

I would love to read this book. I just finished Can you Keep A Secret and I cried while I was reading that one too. Totally crazy. My hubby always looks at me like I am losing it when I cry.

I don't know if I am able to enter again, seeing that I already won!

Anyway, I thought you should know that I finally read the 10th Circle last week on vacation - I really liked it. I also read 2 other Jodi Picoult books. Lately I haven't found time to read, but my vacation is just what I needed.
