relentless

If you're tired of hearing about the heat from every other person in this country, look away.

The daily high temperatures we've had here since the week we got back from Oregon are as follows...

... with no real rain at all since we've been home.

The record for the highest temperature ever recorded in Nashville was broken last Friday.  (previously 107°)
The record for the most consecutive days over 100° is 8 days.  We're getting irritatingly close to that.

They say the problem with 100+° in this magical place called Nashville is that we get the notoriously high heat of Texas and the notoriously high humidity of Florida all in one super fun package.  So we're fabulously more miserable than either of those famously miserable summertime places.

To say we're done with the heat is an understatement.
I LOVE summertime and I love the high temperatures that make you want to only want to be at the water when you're outside.
But this summer has been a little much.  And we NEED some rain.
And what makes me nervous is that it's still only the first week of July.  Normally our dryest and hottest weather is yet to come.

I'm kind of praying that our summer weather somehow got switched around and we'll miraculously have a comfortable July and August.
We only have three full weeks until school starts back up and 1.) I'd like to be able to enjoy at least some of our summer outdoors and 2.) some of our older school buildings can't cool down in this heat, not to mention busing kids home at the peak of the heat of the day... kids on a hot school bus and/or walking home when it's 110° out??  They'll be calling school days for sure.

Good news... we have a 40% (!!) chance of rain next week.  And a couple of days of temps forecasted to only be in the 80's for a change!!  89°, but 80's nonetheless!!
